A national registry study in Sweden identified 2099 people diagnosed with gambling disorder in specialized clinics over 2005 to 2016 years. Gambling disorder is the inability to control gambling to the point that it affects one's life. Compared to Swedes of the same age, the total mortality rate for people aged 20 to 74 is 1.8 times higher, and the suicide mortality rate is 15 times higher (these two figures are Standardized Mortality Ratios, SMR). During the follow-up period, 67 people died, of which 21 died by suicide. Depression is a predictor of suicide. The author issued a correction in 2023: male suicide is 12.1 times higher, and female is 16.1 times higher. Since 1 day, 5 month, 2025 year, China has allocated 12356 nationwide to ensure the psychological assistance hotline can be connected, operating for no less than 18 hours every day (Sweden / National)

B is given because there is only one study, and it only counted those who sought treatment in specialized clinics. These individuals have more severe conditions, so the 15 times multiplier cannot be applied to all card players.
